Postdoctoral research scholar in water resource economics and hydro-economic modeling

We have just reposted an employment opportunity for a postdoctoral research scholar in water resource economics and hydro-economic modeling to join IIASA's Water Futures and Solutions initiative
 
Details in brief:
Tasks:
  • Compile databases of and assess the benefits and costs of water resource infrastructure and management options 
  • Compile and harmonize databases of spatial and temporal water demands, along with the quality of water demanded
  • Assess the economic value of water for various uses
  • Develop methods for incorporating water resource constraints into macro-economic integrated assessment models for the consistent analysis of development scenarios across sectors
  • Conduct research related to the Water Program’s portfolio of projects (FP7 projects, institutional requests)
  • Publish relevant results of own research in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scientific conferences and workshops.
Required qualifications/experience:
  • PhD degree in water resource engineering and management and/or economics with a strong background in quantitative methods
  • Proven analytical skills and ease in manipulating large data sets and complex modeling systems
  • Hydro-economic modeling experience
  • Experience with large scale applied economic models either at sector level or in the general equilibrium framework advantageous
  • Strong interest and background in integrative systems analysis and development of tools to support water management decisions
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in at least one programming language (i.e. FORTRAN, C++, GAMS, R)
  • Fluency in English.
