
Dear Council Members and NMO Secretaries, IIASA's Ecosystems Services and Management Program is hiring a Research Scholar to work on work on global to national issues concerning forestry, forest growth, forest management, sustainable
land use, and ecosystem services.
Tasks:
Contribute to the further development of the Global Forest Model (G4M) Perform scenario runs and developments related to ongoing projects at ESM Conduct research applying the G4M and overall integrated model cluster at ESM Publish relevant results of own research in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scientific conferences and workshops Present and disseminate model results within the scientific and the policy community.
Requirements:
PhD degree in forestry with strong experience in bio-physical forest
growth and yield modeling
Proven analytical skills, programming skills, and ease in manipulating
large data sets
Strong interest in ESM topics, in particular agriculture, forestry,
water, land-use, climate change adaptation and mitigation
Proficiency in C++ and/or GAMS
Fluency in English - both spoken and written.
