Dear Council Members and NMO Secretaries,
IIASA's Ecosystems Services and  Management Program is hiring a Group and Project Officer to manage a team of international researchers in the Earth Observation Systems group (EOS).
The successful candidate will support research and management activities such as:
  • Support and management of ERC grant (CrowdLand) on crowdsourcing land cover and land use data collection
  • Support research staff with setting up and managing research projects
  • Testing of Web and mobile applications
  • Provision of basic research support and development to research carried out within EOS;
  • Co-ordinate and monitor research activities, process management of project milestones and deliverables
  • Monitoring of projects in cooperation with IIASA's internal Office of Sponsored Research (OSR)
  • Identification of new (project) funding opportunities in line with the ESM mission
  • Support with document and Web page editing.
Required Qualifications and Experience: 
  • Minimum of a  bachelor's degree (or equivalent), preferably in a relevant subject such as geography, GIS, remote sensing, geospatial sciences or IT
  • Experience in the developing world (e.g. Africa) desirable
  • Excellent command of English, both in spoken and written 
  • Strong interest in EOS topics, in particular remote sensing, crowdsourcing, land cover, land use
  • Expertise in standard MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), understanding of other relevant software tools (e.g. Skype, Content Management Systems etc.) advantageous
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, pro-active, reliable, highly-organized, efficient, capable of multi-tasking and able to work effectively under pressure, stress-resistant
  • Ability to work well both independently as well as part of a team.
