Research interests

Pedogenesis, paleopedology, soil morphology and micromorphology with special interest in layered pedofeatures as a source of soil memory (textural pedofeatures, carbonate pendants), soils in time and space, soil as a memory (archive) of environmental change, multiproxy records of environmental change, pedoarchaeology, geoarchaeology, soils of ultracontinental regions.

Study areas

European part of Russia, North Caucasus, Kazakhstan, West Siberia, South Siberia.

International experience

1996-1997 — guest researcher in the Institute of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University, Sweden: training and practical work in pollen analysis.
